3/15/2024 0 Comments Marlboro miles flyrod reel comboI think I got it for $5 at a garage sale including a reel and line. It was like 7 foot long with no markings on line size or action or anything so I just had to wing it. It was a late 90s “Marlboro” branded rod that I think the owner got from sending in stamps of cigarette packs. I will say though, I started with a terrible combo as a teenager and I still caught a ton of fish. Rods and reels can get steep very fast and line is damn near $100 a box sometimes. I hear you, it’s an expensive hobby without a doubt. I get mad if I get skunked with a casting/spinning rod setup. If I had a bad day fly fishing I enjoyed nature I got a good stretch by casting. I enjoy the fight on a fly rod, I would rather pull a fish in by hand with my rod bending and letting rim run till I have to reel watching the rod bend, is just so much more fun then a crank and go of spinning/casting. Why I personally fly fish over spinner/casting is I enjoy the cast more it is very visually satisfying watching a perfect cast roll out and your fly just nearly make a ripple in the water. Fishing streamers is the closest to spinner but you don’t feel your lure, you have to visualize where stuff is. You cast watch indicators you build on your line or put in your line and watch it move. Fishing nymphs is mainly watching your line and on smaller to medium moving water. It’s more of a visual fishing kind of like watching a bobber but more interactive. If you like to feel the lure and know where it is you may like dry fly fishing. Waders: The most commonly asked about fly fishing accessoryįLORIDA FRESHWATER SPECIES MORE TO COME !!
